Role of the hands during backswing:

• Hands remain relaxed, yet do not act independently of arms.

• Avoid rolling or cocking of wrists.

Note: clubshaft is approximately parallel to the ground halfway back. This will occur naturally if the grip is correct and the hands act as extensions of the arms.
